History of Asia Cup:

The Asia Cup is a One-Day and T-20 International men’s tournament organized for the first time in 1984, comprising major Asian countries, namely; Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and India, but soon Bangladesh made a debut with brilliant cricket out there.

The Asia Cup Council, the organizer of the Asia Cup, was established in 1983, and the first tournament was held in 1984 in Sharjah, UAE.

Every 2-year period, there is an alternation between the T-20 and ODI International Championships, and whoever wins the championship becomes the champion of Asia.

Bangladesh hosted the Asia Cup, and the promotion of the fourth team occurred in 1988.

REGARDING THE ASIA CUP ODI OF THIS SESSION:

The First T-20 Asia Cup tournament was held in 2016, and the Second in 2022.

In June 2020, following a meeting with the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said they might be willing to let Sri Lanka host the 2020 Asia Cup, with India unwilling to travel to Pakistan. The ACC issued a press release following the assembly, pointing out that “in light of the impact and outcomes of the COVID-19 pandemic, viable venue options for the Asia Cup 2020 have been discussed, and it has been decided to take the final selection in due direction”. In July 2020, an official assertion of the postponement was made by way of the Asia Cup Council. The 2020 edition was rescheduled to take place in Sri Lanka in June 2021.

In March 2021, the event was susceptible to a further postponement after India qualified for the final of the arena test Championship, which clashed with the proposed dates in June. The tournament was postponed once again to 2023. In May 2021, the ACC announced that the 2021 event would be deferred to 2023, mentioning that it would be difficult to arrange the match because of the continuing impact of COVID-19 (Coronavirus Outcome) on the scheduling of different cricket activities. Pakistan was scheduled to host the 2022 Asia Cup after retaining the rights to host the 2022 edition, but, in October 2021, following a meeting with the ACC, Ramiz Raja from Pakistan showed that Pakistan might host the tournament in 2023, with Sri Lanka hosting the 2022 version.

In October 2022, the Board of Manipulation for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary and ACC President Jay Shah said that India might not tour Pakistan due to the continuing political tension between the two countries. Despite Pakistan being confirmed as host in advance, he said that “The Asia Cup 2023 could be held at an impartial venue with a hybrid model.” In reply to this announcement, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) asked for an emergency assembly of the ACC board to speak about “this essential and touchy count”. The PCB stated that this announcement may affect Pakistan’s participation in the 2023 CWC and different ICC activities in India during the 2024–2031 cycle.

In December 2022, the then PCB chairman, Ramiz Raja, acknowledged that Pakistan would possibly remember pulling out of this tournament if their web hosting rights were withdrawn due to India’s unwillingness to travel to Pakistan, but, in January 2023, ACC showed the teams and corporations of the match, with both India and Pakistan taking part.

In March 2023, it proposed that Pakistan stay as hosts and all India matches, including at least two India-Pakistan contests, be performed at a neutral venue but shown. The hybrid version proposed with the aid of Pakistan was rejected by Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. In reaction, PCB Chairman Najam Sethi proposed options. The first choice was that India play all their matches at a neutral venue, with Pakistan hosting the rest of the teams. The second choice was that four matches within the group level take place in Pakistan, while the second section, wherein suits are played with the aid of the Indian group observed using the subsequent degree fits, including the very last, is played at an impartial venue. Sri Lanka and Bangladesh agreed to the second choice.

On June 15, 2023, the Asian Cricket Council announced that the tournament may be hosted in a hybrid model, with four matches being held in Pakistan and the remaining nine matches being performed in Sri Lanka.

FORMAT OF THE GAME:

MCW Bangla has looked over the format of the Asia Cup, and the business layout of the tournament was introduced on January 9, 2023, with the six teams split into groups of three. A total of 13 fits could be performed, which incorporates six league suits, six Super Four matches, and one very last. India, Pakistan, and Nepal, champions of the qualifier event (202 men’s best Cup), have been placed in organization A, while the defending champions Sri Lanka are grouped with Bangladesh and Afghanistan in organization B. The pinnacle teams from every one of the agencies will progress to the splendid four. From there, the pinnacle teams will play differently until the very last.

Pakistan and India had been seeded as A1 and A2, while Bangladesh and Sri Lanka had been seeded as B1 and B2. In case Nepal and Afghanistan qualify for the remarkable 4 levels, they may take the slot of the crew knocked out (Pakistan or India in Organization A and Sri Lanka or Bangladesh in Institution B).

GROUPS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

The five complete contributors qualified automatically for the event, even this year. MCW Bangla is thrilled to mention Nepal was certified for the main event for the first time through the 2023 Asia Cup Men’s Premier Championship, being held in April/May 2023 in Nepal, defeating UAE in the very last.
